Do you believe in superstitions? However, I often watch the show “My Lottery Dream Home” on HGTV and most people do not mention their right or left hands-for that matter – itching before they won big. Many think being superstitious is complete hogwash.

Although on a recent trip to Florida my sons and I visited a crystal shop. My son picked out a green aventurine rock which is said to bring abundance. He continued to run around the beach saying, “Abundance rock give me money!” Funny as it sounds, he actually found a bunch of change on that trip and his brother found a $5 bill on the beach. Was this from the “abundance rock” or was this just simple kids’ luck looking for money? I guess it depends on if you believe in superstitions or not.

This is because the right hand is controlled by the left side of the brain, which deals with creativity and emotions. And this means that creativity and emotions are present in our daily life.

Often superstitions are passed down from generation. As I continue to research this, there is no definitive answer as to where this old wives’ tale actually came from. Yet, many cultures believe in this being true. According to PujanPujar,  it is said this was passed down by the Saxons who used sliver as a cure for everything, including itchy hands. This later correlated itchy hands with silver and money. However, often when we look at this left-hand itching means money is coming in superstition, we can relate it to energy moving through the hands.

In fact, many cultures believe, that if your right hand is itching, it means money is coming in and if the left hand is itching it means money going out or to be paid.

It is also said that to transfer the energy, you can touch wood, which is probably where the “knock on wood” superstition came from. In India, if you are a female, right-hand itching means something is coming in and left-hand itching means money going out or being paid. However, in a man, it means the opposite, left-hand itching means unlucky, and right-hand itching means lucky.
