Need a little extra cash? Need to clean out your closet? Then this is the website for you.
I was in a dilemma after having my two boys. Unfortunately, I had many items in my closet that I stilled loved but they did not fit me. Yet, I continued to hope I would go back to my pre-pregnancy body and held on to my beloved clothes!
After all, I used to be a teacher and enjoyed my dressy work clothes, planning my outfits each week and feeling great when I stepped out the door. These clothes were part of me! And I wanted to keep them!
However, after a few years of holding on to these, some almost new items, I read about an app called Poshmark in a magazine. I decided to clean out my cluttered closet and give it a try.
I’m happy to say that after being on the website for about six months, I have already made around $400.
All you need is a good picture of your item to upload it with the information (size, condition, description, price) and you are good to go. Also, It helps to style your item or give your buyers an idea of how to style the item in the description. You are selling a lifestyle!!
Follow as many people as you can and most will return the favor and follow you. The more followers you have, the more people will see your items.
Also, share your items often. They will then come up on your follower’s news feeds and other people (hopefully with more followers) will share your items. All of this is really easy within the website.
After you make a sale, Poshmark will e-mail you a pre-paid shipping label. Print and pack your item and put it in the mail.
After the buyer receives it, they accept that it is the correct item and in the condition stated. Poshmark will then release your earnings to you. Poshmark does take 20% of all your sale price for all items over $15 and a $2.95 fee for anything under $15.
This is a great way to earn extra money. If you sell ten items and receive a five-star rating, Poshmark will allow you to buy wholesale items directly from them. So if you are running low on things to sell, this option may be for you.
I have actually tried my hand at a few wholesale items and have sold most, but at around 3500 followers, I feel I need more of a following to make more money on wholesale.
If you do not like selling and shipping, you can send your stuff directly to Poshmark concierge and they will do the work for you. I have not personally tried this but have read it is awesome and saves you time!
Buying on Poshmark
Poshmark is also a great place to buy items. There are many designer items both new and used for a fraction of the price you pay in a store.
All shipping is tracked and insured through priority mail and depending on the day you buy, Poshmark offers 2-3 day shipping (2-day factoring in Sunday). Many buyers offer bundle deals which make the $5.95 shipping price, not seem so high for one item and if you ask the buyer, they will often give you an even better deal. Also, you can make offers on items to score a lower price then what the buyer listed.
I bought a pair of suede booties that would have cost around $50.00 at the store. Yet, I paid just $20 including shipping. I also scored a Victoria’s Secret bikini for $16 including shipping. If you like fashion bargains but do not like to pay retail, this is the site for you.
I give this website an awesome rating. However, I feel the only downside is the $5.95 shipping fee. This can seem like a lot when you are trying to score a deal and only want to purchase one item.
Nonetheless, there are great deals to be had here, fashionable finds and other people, just like you, trying to clean out their closet and replenish with new items.

I have never used this service but given that we are in a big declutter mode in our home perhaps we will sell some items.
Thank you, Elise! It really helped me get rid of unwanted & unneeded clothing & shoes! Best of luck to you!
