How often do you shop at Target? It is one of my favorite stores because of the prices and quality. Of course, we all know it is hard shopping at Target because their items are so alluring, many end up spending more money than anticipated.

Yes, you run in for one thing and come out with ten, right? However, it is possible to save money at Target.

In fact, I do most of my grocery shopping at Target. I prefer their store brand products to other stores.

You can’t beat the prices and quality….and with coupon stacking and gift card deals, savings are a cinch!

And let’s not forget about my favorite app, Target Circle.

There are so many ways to save at Target. Yet, the average Target shopper doesn’t pay much attention to these deals. Hence the jokes about Target runs being a HUGE waste of money.

Yet, it is possible to save money shopping at Target with some willpower and coupons!

Target Circle – Formerly Cartwheel

The Target app. includes Target Circle which can save you tons of money! Most Target brands are always included in the app.

So if you check before you shop, you can score awesome deals on Target brands and many other name brands products as well! And by pairing this with manufacturer’s coupons and Target’s coupons, you can score three discounts on one item! Yes, you read that correctly, three discounts!! (Plus four if you use Ibotta – more on that later)

The best news is you can scan your own phone with the Target Circle app at the self-checkout! Just use the hand-held scanner! I love that!!

10 Target Savings Secrets:

# 1Target Circle (formerly known as Cartwheel)

Make sure you get the Circle/Cartwheel app and check the app before you check out! You can also use your phone number if you do not have a smartphone.

If you do not use your REDcard discount (5%), you can earn 1% back on all of your purchases with Target Circle. They do not give the 1% back if you are using your 5% REDcard discount. (Bummer)

You can also add offers to your Target Circle in the Target app and save even more money at the checkout by scanning your barcode.

# 2 Coupons

Check manufacturer coupons before you shop. Did you know you can stack coupons at Target? You can use manufacture coupons, find Target gift card deals, use Target coupons, and get a percent off if your item is on Target Circle. Yes, there are savings to be had at this amazing store.

# 3 Check the Target Website

This was an amazing discovery for this avid Target shopper. I learned Target offers its own coupons. Jut check target.com for target coupons & print at home (you can also have some but not all of these sent to your phone texting target keywords)! Stack with Manufacturers’ coupons as mentioned above.

# 4 Make use of Free Shipping

Did you know you can get free shipping on Target.com when paying with your REDcard & an extra 30 days for returns? You can also get free shipping if you spend more than $35.

#5 REDCard Savings

Target has its own credit card (or debit card if you do not qualify for or want another credit card.)

The main benefit of owning this card, is you get 5% off of pretty much anything you buy.

That is $5 off every $100 spent! One reason I love the REDcard so much is it is almost like I don’t pay sales tax with the 5% off. Sales tax is 6% here in Michigan. It is also very handy at checkout and I, of course, pay off my card bill every month as to not acquire interest.

If you are bad with credit cards, you can also opt for a debit card and still get the same perks. I love the savings I get every time I use my card.

Also, with the REDcard you don’t need a receipt for returns. The cashier can pull up your purchase from your card.

# 6 Clearance

Shop clearance! Look for those orange clearance stickers. Many clearance items are found at the end of the isles. They also have a clearance section for clothing.

# 7 Coupon Apps

Use Ibotta & Checkout 51 rebate apps when you get home to stack even more savings.

Have you heard of Ibotta? It is my favorite rebate app. It is a convenient way to save, without clipping coupons. All you need to do is upload your receipt and if your items are listed, you will receive money in your account. You can also link your Target card to Ibotta and not worry about the receipt. It is a great way to earn money back on groceries and I use it every time I shop.

Checkout 51 is very similar in that you upload your receipt and find items on your shopping list, listed in the app. You then get your money back for your purchases.

One site I love to check for Target deals is The Krazy Coupon Lady. This website matches up store deals with flyers and coupon apps. If you can pair all of these with a clearance deal, you can really score a bargain at Target.

#8 Gift Card Deals

Look for gift card deals. For example, I just bought 4 Dove soap 4 packs. I received a $5 Target gift card at the register for purchasing the amount specified.

Target has these deals all the time, so stock up when you see your items.

#9 Rakuten

Use Rakuten when shopping at Target online.

Ebates is a great way to save on all of your online shopping. Just click through Rakuten and get a percent of what you pay back, in cash! There are thousands of stores listed on Rakuten’s site, and you can get $10 worth of gift cards for signing up with my link! Check it out here!

#10 Target app – Weekly Flyer

I absolutely love using the Target app. It is fast and convenient and I can save my favorites in the app, even if I am not ready to buy. Since I have the REDcard I get free shipping on all of my purchases and I also get 5% off when using my REDcard so it is almost like not paying sales tax!

Since the Coronavirus hit, Target has offered the best shipping of any store. They offer two-day shipping and a few times I was given the option to save $1 if I opted for slower shipping, which still only took about a week.

I love how I can view the weekly flyer in the Target app, shop online, and add Target circle items to my list. If you do not have this app and you are an avid Target shopper, I highly recommend getting it.
